A Moment's Rest (Korea)

From 1950-1953 Canada participated in the Korean War, as part of the United Nations forces, sending 26,000 soldiers, eight destroyers, and aircraft to provide transport, supply, and logistics. Deaths amounted to 516, with 312 being combat-related.

The group of soldiers in the painting are taking a welcome break from battle, resting against a pile of sandbags which bear the names of the battles Canadians took part in.
