CS Harps
The Story:
The Aeolian Harp is an ancient instrument, with roots in Ancient Greece. Its strings are sounded by the wind when the harp is placed in a window to catch the passing breezes, just like the leaves on the trees or the rustling branches of the pines. The window is closed on the lid of the harp, which helps to direct the wind across the harp strings causing them to vibrate and creating the pleasant musical tones and overtones. The sounds of the harp in temperate climes helps announce the coming of spring when the weather is warm enough to have the breezes blowing into the house.
CS Computer Services has been involved with the building of Aeolian Harps, monochords, and other musical instruments since the early 1980s. Carl Sneyd designed the plans for our Aeolian Harp with a home workshop in mind.
