Comments: | The Canadian Navy celebrated its centennial in 2010. H.M.C.S. is an artist's study depicting the Navy's service as convoy escorts during the Second World War. When I was researching this area, I was struck by the stark numbers that I found on the Veterans' Affairs Canada website. These numbers are overlaid on a schematic overhead view of the layout of a convoy. The dots in the middle rectangle are merchant ships. The dots with the zigzag wakes are naval escort vessels. |
