| Comments: | Remembrance Day 2003 brought different thoughts to mind. My daughter, SLt Elizabeth Sneyd, had moved on to the Supplementary Reserve, in order to teach English in Japan, where people who were once our enemies are now our friends. How would she explain the poppy that she wears for the month of November? How would she commemorate her war dead without offending her Japanese students? I visualized this dilemma by depicting a kimono with poppies instead of traditional Japanese flowers. Who are the dead who are remembered with these poppies? |
