Comments: | As I researched the Vickers Wellington bomber, I reflected upon the aircrews who did
not return from their raids. This painting is a tribute to them, in particular, Pilot
Officer Russell Munn Almas, RCAF, killed in action, Tuesday 21 November 1944, and Pilot
Officer Ivor Malcolm Payne Morgan, RAF, killed in action, Saturday 17 April 1943. It was
also painted in recognition of the service of Major Bill Randall, RCAF, who survived the
war and returned to Canada where he continued to serve his country in countless ways,
right up until his death in 2002. See also Poppies for Russ for an additional tribute to Russell Munn Almas and A Life Ripped Apart for an additional tribute to Ivor Malcolm Payne Morgan . |
