Comments: | Binkley's Birth Registration shows his name as Ellsworth Ross Binkley. He later dropped "Ellsworth" and used "James Ross". He was known as "Ross". Binkley was a well-known football player who played with a team in his hometown of Dundas, Ontario, then with the Hamilton Tigers, and finally as a half- back with the Toronto Argonauts, which he captained before he enlisted. Binkley's Date of Death was originally reported as 02 May 1915, but later corrected to correspond with other members of the unit who were killed at the same time. He is commemorated on the Menin Gate. |
